What About A Thursday Wedding?

Everyone wants to have the perfect wedding but not everyone is willing to shell out thousands upon thousands of pounds to do so. If you don’t want to compromise on your venue, caterers, aerial wedding films or entertainment but don’t have big bucks to spend, what about holding your wedding on a Thursday? You could find that you’re actually able to save thousands of pounds if you do have a midweek wedding, since prices are often inflated for weekend events. Your guests will likely thank you for it as well, since they could find it cheaper to travel during the week, as well as saving money on accommodation. New research from hitched.co.uk, reported by the Daily Mail, has just found that Thursday weddings are increasing in popularity as more people seek to save a bit of cash. Apparently, last year saw 21,700 weddings take place on a Thursday, with Friday weddings dropping in popularity. Caroline Hendry, hitched.co.uk editor, said: “With many venues and wedding suppliers booking up months or even years in advance, a Thursday wedding can also give couples a better chance of booking their first choice vendors.” It would be worth remembering, however, that not all your guests will be able to make it if you decide to have a Thursday wedding. You’ll need to give them lots of advance notice (which is where Save the Dates come into their own), but don’t be upset if people can’t get time off work. You could consider putting on a few other events in the lead-up to the wedding for people who can’t attend.
