The soap’s old set in the centre of Manchester has now been granted a wedding licence, so happy couples can now get hitched and soak up a bit of the ambiance of one of the UK’s favourite TV shows at the same time. Weddings are due to be available during the evenings on weekdays in term time, which is when guided tours are not put on – so you won’t have to worry about any strangers photobombing your big day.
General manager of Coronation Street The Tour Andy Begg described the decision to host weddings as “a real must for any die-hard Corrie fan wanting to tie the knot in style. We are currently in the process of working out what packages can be made available, but rest assured, you can guarantee the Rovers will play a big part”.
Unique weddings are a brilliant way of ensuring that your guests never forget your big day, long after the band’s stopped playing and all the drink has gone, and there are now lots of alternative venues for you to choose from in order to make your wedding completely unforgettable. Whether you’ll actually be able to sit down for a pint in the Rovers Return after you’ve said “I do”, however, is yet to be confirmed.
