However, sadly, the cancer returned just three months after saying ‘I do’. Speaking to the newspaper, she said: “I was devastated, but all I could think of was I don’t want Jon to be a widow in his 30s. I didn’t want to die and leave him.” After receiving a stem cell transplant from her brother Garrath Williams, who flew from Australia for the procedure, Polly went on to regain her health. She was given the great news that she was in remission in January 2015, and finally just two months later Polly and Jon got to enjoy their trip of a lifetime, four years after her initial diagnosis.
